Tamariu is situated in a small secluded bay between the towns of Begur and Palafrugel. Small coves set amongst rugged tree-lined cliffs, crystal clear water and beautiful beaches have made the area famous the world over for its beauty. Belle Vista cottage is a former fisherman's cottage and sits just 50 metres from the beach.
Originally
a small fishing village,Tamariu has not been over-developed and has retained its
identity and charm. There are no high rise blocks or large holiday complexes
that spoil the timelessness of the bay, only former fisherman's cottages
nestling around the marina and villas scattered around the hillside of
Aigua Xelida.
With its steep cliffs and pine covered hills reaching down to the crystal clear Mediterranean, lovely quaint houses and open air restaurants lining a beautiful bay - Tamariu is a very desirable location which is visited by travellers who come back year after year.
Tamariu Beach is a sloping, 250-yd stretch of coarse golden sand with pebbles at the water's edge and a couple of rocky outcrops, numerous boats are pulled up onto the sand towards its centre. Adjoining is L'Iris Beach. Sunbeds and sun umbrellas are for hire as well as kayaks and pedalloes.
Numerous boats moor in the cove. Around the corner is Fonda Beach, a tiny stretch of pebbles bordered by large rocks. A car is needed to reach minuscule Aigua Xelida cove, backed by sheer cliffs and accessed by steep steps.
Tamariu has a small selection of village shops, a diving centre and offers the possibility of renting a boat to explore the surrounding coastline, the village of Tamariu is an excellent spot to use as a base to get to know the Costa Brava.
Take a half day trip to the nearby picturesque medieval town of Pals, or the nearby small resorts of Llafranc and Calella de Palafrugell, but a "must" include are the Cap Roig Botanical Gardens and Castle, San Sebastian Mountain and lighthouse for stunning views, or you can take a full day trip to the amazing cities of Girona and Barcelona.Please have a look around the website and find out what a holiday in sunny Tamariu has to offer, if you need more information just get in touch with me via the contact form.
